There’s nothing like having an organized pantry. With the weather starting to get warmer and decluttering the house for the move, I decided it was time to purge and organize the pantry.Β With two hungry girls to feed and my husband and I, we have a pretty average amount of food on hand.
I do try to keep our favorites stocked so that evening meals come together quickly because as all mothers know around 5:00 it’s like there a clock in the girl’s heads and they start becoming like different kids! They get hungry, like they’ve never eaten before, and are constantly asking for a snack. π
On the top shelf, I keep staples like chicken, beef and vegetable stock and all the canned tomatoes. This shelf is REALLY high up. ThankfullyΒ I’m tall so I can reach these items without much effort, but when loading the shelf I do use a stool. π
The next shelf is at eye level and has most of our dry goods. I keep my protein powders and BCAA’s here for easy access in the morning before hitting the gym or doing a workout. Next, to that, I have our breakfast cereals (yes we eat cereal) π€« and goldfish.
We don’t have cereal every morning, but on those mornings when we’re cutting it close, cereal comes to the rescue. These are the containers that I put the cereal and goldfish in. Behind the ccereal, keep some crackers, hot chocolate supplies and other items we don’t use that much.
This pullout has some of our other breakfast options. We love oatmeal in this house, so I have my oatmeal supplies in the back and the girls up front.
I love to add homemade granola, peanut butter, honey and then any fresh fruit we have in the house to our oatmeal. I keep some Annie’s Mac and cheese and some Campbell’s homestyle chicken noodle soup here for the girl’s lunches.
This next pullout contains all our Lara bars, trail mix, and some of Justin’s nut butter packets. These are quick snacks for my husband and me to grab for on-the-go, making healthy snack choices easier. The skinny pop cakes are my guilty pleasure at night when I want something salty to snack on. π
Next to the snacks are some other quick dinner options. We have our favorite marinara sauce from Costco and some pasta to go with it. The rice boxes are another easy weeknight meal addition. I don’t usually use the rice-a-roni, but it ended up in my cart somehow…I’m thinking one of the girls snuck it there. Otherwise, I love Zatarain’s rice. We use the Spanish rice for tacos and the jambalaya rice for sausage and peppers.
In the smaller drawer, I have all our Ziploc bags, aluminum foil, and Saran Wrap. Having all the bags and wraps here helps with clean-up after meals and also making lunches super simple. I didn’t take a photo of this because it’s just baggies. π
The middle drawer is filled with the girl’s favorite snacks. When I took this pictures we had applesauce, ritz crackers, fruit snacks, orange cups, and some fig bars. This drawer changes depending on what the girls pick out.
I usually try to have some starch, fruit and a sweet treat. They aren’t allowed to grab a snack without asking which helps me balance what they’re eating. πΒ If left to their own, they would eat all the fruit snacks and applesauce in one day. π¬
The last drawer isn’t as pretty, but it works for us. It has all of our extra canned goods, dry goods, large spices, and some miscellaneous baking goods.
This is what the area looks like with all the drawers and doors shut. When I designed these cupboards and drawers I wanted them to center the ovens, which is visually appealing to the eye. The “pantry” column sits right next to the fridge which is convenient for putting away groceries.
To the other side of the ovens, we have storage for some of our most used appliances, a chip area, and all our baking supplies.
The very top shelf has my crockpot and mini food processor.Β The next shelf down I decided to use these pan lid holder’s to store all of my glass pyrex. This way they are not all stacked on top of each other and breaking. π¬
This is the chip drawer which I cleaned up for this photo π, but normally it’s pretty messy (see above photo). We love chips in this house.
The last pull-out has my kitchen-aid stand mixer and juicer. I love these two appliances, but they take up so much counter space. I just pull them out when I need to.
The first drawer has all of my baking decorations, baking cups, scoops, birthday candles, etc. I love using drawer organizers to keep everything in its proper place and from sliding around.
All of my baking supplies are in this second drawer. These big snap ware containers hold my sugar and flour and I LOVE them! They are easy to scoop out of and keep everything fresh.
The last drawer holds a bunch of mason jars with all of my dry goods and some nuts. I love using mason jars for storing food because they keep everything airtight and they are a great price.
Lastly above the double ovens, I keep all of our sheet pans, cutting boards, drying racks, pizza supplies, and muffin pans.
That’s it, a complete look into our pantry cupboards and drawers. I’m hoping to do a complete kitchen tour soon!Β π
